About This Model

The Tannoy Reveal R5A is a bi-amplified active nearfield studio monitor built around a 5-inch (130mm) LF/MID driver and a 25mm neodymium soft dome tweeter, with 40W driving the low end and 20W handling the highs. Its crossover sits at 2.7kHz, and the frequency response extends from 65Hz to 30kHz - the wideband HF design deliberately pushes amplitude response beyond 20kHz to correct phase behaviour in the audible range. Input is via a 600-ohm balanced XLR/Jack combi connector, making it straightforward to integrate into any studio setup. The 40mm contoured MDF baffle reduces diffraction, and the drivers are lossy-coupled to the cabinet to minimise resonance colouration. Front-panel controls include On/Mute and a volume knob with LED status indicator; the rear houses a mains isolation switch, and an external heatsink supports continuous 24/7 operation. Maximum SPL reaches 109dB. The magnetically shielded drive units also make it safe for placement near CRT screens or sensitive equipment.
