About This Model

The Marantz SD220 is a 2-head, single compact cassette deck introduced in 1982, featuring a front-loading mechanism and soft-touch transport controls. It supports Type I (Normal), CrO2 (Chrome), and Metal tape formulations via manual selection, and includes Dolby-B noise reduction for a quoted signal-to-noise ratio of 65dB. Frequency response extends to 17.5kHz with Metal tape, and wow and flutter is rated at 0.08%. Recording and playback levels are monitored via digital peak-reading meters, with individual input level controls for its two mono microphone inputs alongside RCA line inputs and outputs. A stereo headphone jack and 3-digit mechanical counter complete the feature set.
