About This Model

The Yamaha THR5A is a 10-watt acoustic modelling combo amplifier designed specifically for acoustic guitar, delivering 5W + 5W in stereo through two 8cm full-range speakers. At its core is Yamaha's Virtual Circuitry Modeling (VCM) engine, which emulates five distinct microphone and pickup characters - Condenser, Dynamic, Tube, Nylon, and EG CLN - giving acoustic players a range of studio-like tones from a compact desktop unit. Extended Stereo Technology widens the soundstage well beyond what the physical speaker spacing would suggest. On-board studio-grade effects include compressor, chorus, flanger, delay, and reverb, while a built-in chromatic tuner and tap tempo round out the feature set. Connectivity covers a 1/4" instrument input, 1/8" AUX in, 1/4" headphone output, and USB for use as a direct recording interface, with Cubase AI included. The unit runs on AC power or eight AA batteries for up to six hours of portable use.
