About This Model
The Yamaha RX-A680 is a 7.2-channel AV receiver from Yamaha's AVENTAGE line, built around Dolby Atmos and DTS:X object-based surround processing alongside Yamaha's own CINEMA DSP 3D. It delivers 80 W per channel (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20 kHz, 2ch driven) and uses four Burr-Brown 384 kHz/32-bit DACs for the main zone. Connectivity is comprehensive: four HDMI inputs and one output with HDCP 2.3, 4K/60p, HDR10, and Dolby Vision support, plus a phono (MM) input, two coaxial and one optical digital input, and dual subwoofer pre-outs. Wireless streaming is handled via Wi-Fi (2.4/5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, and built-in support for Spotify, Tidal, AirPlay 2, and Yamaha's MusicCast multi-room platform. The chassis employs Yamaha's A.R.T. Wedge anti-resonance construction, and YPAO room calibration is included to optimise speaker output for any listening environment.
