About this model

The Yamaha PSR-8000 is a 61-key arranger workstation from 1997/1998, built around a 16-bit AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) ROMpler engine with 741 preset tones - including 480 XG-compatible sounds - drawn from 12 MB of ROM and delivered with 64-note polyphony. The keybed offers velocity and aftertouch sensitivity with a standard synth action. On-board sound-shaping is extensive, covering 24 reverb types, 20 chorus types, and a range of DSP effects, while 214 preset styles and 16 user styles feed a built-in sequencer. A 320×240 backlit LCD keeps everything in view, and a built-in floppy disk drive allows sample import into 1 MB of onboard sampling memory (expandable via RAM cards). Two pairs of built-in speakers - driven at 2×20 W - mean the unit is self-contained for performance, and connectivity extends to MIDI In/Out/Thru, a 6.35 mm stereo headphone output, a 6.35 mm line/microphone input, an auxiliary stereo input, and a Host socket for computer connection.
