Note: The onboard pickup does not function due to corrosion or leakage in the battery compartment - the preamp system will require repair or replacement. About This Model

The Yamaha APX500III is a thinline acoustic-electric guitar featuring a cutaway body for easy high-fret access. Its laminated spruce top sits over laminated Nato/Okume back and sides, producing a bright, focused tone well suited to live performance and practice. The onboard Yamaha System 66 preamp - powered by two AA batteries - pairs an under-saddle piezo pickup with a volume control, 3-band EQ, mid-frequency sweep, and a built-in chromatic tuner, giving players a practical, self-contained amplification system. A rosewood fingerboard and bridge, die-cast tuners, and a 43 mm nut width complete a specification designed to be comfortable and reliable. Now discontinued and succeeded by the APX600, the APX500III remains a well-regarded entry in Yamaha's APX thinline series.
