About This Model

The Wharfedale Denton 2 is a compact 2-way bookshelf loudspeaker manufactured around 1971 by Rank Wharfedale Ltd. Each cabinet houses a 200mm bass cone driver paired with a 50mm midrange/treble unit featuring a purple cellulose acetate butyrate cone, crossed over at 1400Hz. The enclosure is an unported 14-litre wooden cabinet, and the speakers present a 6Ω nominal impedance with a power handling of 18W and a quoted frequency response of 60Hz to 16kHz (±3dB). Wharfedale's tweeter design incorporated an integral loading cavity intended to minimise distortion through the midrange — a considered engineering choice reflective of the era's hi-fi ambitions. These are passive speakers with standard speaker-level binding posts, making them straightforward to integrate with any compatible amplifier.
