About this model

The THD Hot Plate is a reactive power attenuator designed to sit between a tube guitar amplifier and its speaker cabinet, allowing the amp to run at full power and full saturation while the output volume is reduced to a manageable level. Its frequency-compensated inductive load is engineered to preserve the tone and feel of the amp rather than simply dissipating signal, and Bright and Deep switches provide additional control over high and low frequencies. An adjustable Line Out offers a DI signal suitable for recording or routing to additional gear, and a built-in passive noise reduction circuit delivers around 10 dB of broad-band noise reduction without gating or pumping artefacts. The unit can also be used as a pure dummy load with no speaker cabinet connected. Milled from a single piece of aluminium and fitted with a signal-driven cooling fan, the Hot Plate is available in several impedance-matched variants to suit different amplifier outputs.
