About This Model

The Tascam SS-R200 is a 2-channel stereo solid-state digital audio recorder built in a slim 19-inch 1RU rackmount chassis, designed for broadcast and fixed installation environments. It records and plays back WAV and MP3 files to CompactFlash, SD/SDHC, or USB memory, and also supports WAV 24-bit playback. Connectivity is comprehensive: balanced XLR inputs and outputs (+4dBu standard), unbalanced RCA jacks, coaxial S/PDIF digital I/O, a 6.3mm headphone output, USB 2.0, RS-232C, parallel control I/O, and remote ports for Tascam RC-series controllers - including flash-start support for up to 20 tracks with an optional RC-20 remote. Audio performance is strong, with a signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range both rated at 95dB and THD of 0.005% or less. A pitch-independent playback speed control adds flexibility for speech or music replay. The SS-R200 has since been discontinued and superseded by the SS-R250N.
