About this model

The Tannoy Mercury M2 is a passive 2-way bass reflex standmount loudspeaker built around a 165mm (6.5-inch) woofer and a 25mm (1-inch) dome tweeter, with a frequency response of 48Hz to 20kHz (±3dB). Running at a nominal impedance of 8 ohms and a sensitivity of 88dB, they are compatible with amplifiers rated between 10 and 80 watts per channel - making them a straightforward match for a wide range of integrated amplifiers and receivers. The rear reflex port and 14-litre cabinet, constructed of 16mm chipboard packed with absorbent material, work together to deliver a balanced, extended bass response from a compact enclosure. Originally conceived as a meaningful step up from mini and midi systems, the Mercury M2 brought a level of refinement to the affordable end of the hi-fi market that earned it considerable praise on release.
