About This Model

The Sony STR-DG820 is a 7.1 channel surround sound receiver delivering 110 W per channel (20-20,000 Hz at 8 Ohms) with a total harmonic distortion of just 0.09%. It features four HDMI 1.3a inputs and one HDMI output, making it well suited to multi-source home theatre setups, alongside three optical digital inputs, one coaxial digital input, and multiple composite and component video connections. Surround decoding is comprehensive, covering Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD, DTS-ES, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, and a full range of legacy formats. Sony's Digital Cinema Auto Calibration system uses a mono microphone to optimise speaker levels and distances automatically. AM/FM radio with RDS and 30 presets per band is built in, and a front-panel headphone output and subwoofer output round out the connectivity. All connections are wired; there is no Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or Ethernet.
