About This Model

The Sony CDP-X333ES is a high-end CD player from Sony's ESPRIT range, built around a newly developed pulse 8-bit D/A converter system featuring a 45-bit noise-shaping digital filter and Pulse Length Modulation wave output with 64-times oversampling. Eight 1-bit DACs (CDX2552) are arranged four per channel in a complementary configuration to minimise distortion and improve signal-to-noise ratio, with a dedicated master clock on the same chip to reduce jitter. Outputs include fixed and variable line-level RCA (2 Vrms), an optical digital output, and a headphone output rated at 28 mW into 32 Ω. Mechanically, the unit uses a G-base construction - a composite of calcium carbonate, glass fibre, and special resin - combined with an FB chassis frame to resist vibration. The dual power supply runs separate transformers for the digital/servo and audio sections, with an additional supply dedicated to the D/A converter. Feature highlights include advanced editing functions (peak search, time edit, just edit, link edit, variable fade), Music Scan track preview, Auto Q cueing, a 20-track music calendar display with three-level dimmer, and CD-R playback support.
