About This Model
The Rotel RCD-965BX is a serious hi-fi CD player built around a Philips CDM-4/19 laser mechanism and a Philips SAA-7323GP 18-bit Bitstream DAC - a complete redesign over its predecessor, the RCD-865BX, with an improved power supply to match. Its measured performance is notably strong: signal-to-noise ratio of 100 dB, total harmonic distortion of just 0.0025%, dynamic range exceeding 96 dB, and channel separation of 100 dB. Output is a clean 2 V RMS on the analogue line outputs, with a 75-ohm coaxial digital output also on board for connection to an external DAC. Frequency response covers the full 20 Hz-20 kHz audio band, and the unit supports programming of up to 20 tracks.
