About this model
The Cambridge Audio CXC is a dedicated CD transport - a digital-only device designed to read CDs and output raw digital data with exceptional precision, leaving decoding duties to a separate DAC. It features both S/PDIF coaxial and TOSLINK optical digital outputs, with no analogue outputs of any kind. At its core is a single-speed universal disc drive paired with Cambridge's proprietary S3 servo solution, engineered specifically for jitter rejection and error correction, achieving total correlated jitter of under 140 picoseconds. Compatible with CD, CD-R, and CD-RW discs and optimised for the Red Book standard, it also supports gapless playback. A toroidal transformer keeps high-frequency noise to a minimum, and the transport mechanism is shared with Cambridge's higher-end Azur 851C.
