About This Model

The Rotel RC-960BX and RB-960BX form a matched pre/power amplifier pairing produced in Japan between 1992 and 1997. The RB-960BX power amplifier delivers 60 watts per channel into 8Ω with total harmonic distortion of just 0.03%, and can be switched into BTL bridged-mono mode to produce 180 watts into 8Ω - a flexibility that suits both stereo and dedicated mono subwoofer or single-channel applications. Its dual-mono architecture uses separate left and right mains transformers and large reservoir capacitors, contributing to a damping factor of 280 and a signal-to-noise ratio of 116dB. The RC-960BX preamplifier complements it with a discrete differential phono stage supporting both MM and MC cartridges, a headphone output compatible with a wide range of impedances, bypassable tone controls, and a frequency response extending to 100kHz on line inputs, with THD below 0.004%.
