About This Model
The Roland SPD-30 Octapad is a professional digital percussion pad built around a sampling engine with over 600 internal sounds drawn from 399 waves. Its 9 pads trigger up to 8 voices of polyphony simultaneously, and 128 patches give players a broad palette of drum and percussion tones. Onboard multi-effects (30 types) and ambience processing shape the sound before it leaves via the stereo quarter-inch outputs or headphone jack. A CompactFlash card slot and USB port allow for sound expansion and direct computer connectivity, while MIDI IN/OUT, a trigger input, expression pedal jack, and foot-switch jack make it straightforward to integrate into a larger live or studio rig. A stereo Mix In jack lets you blend a backing track through the unit's outputs, rounding out a feature set aimed at gigging percussionists and electronic music producers alike.
