About This Model

The Roland SH-201 is a 49-key virtual analog subtractive synthesizer built around two analogue modeling oscillators — expandable to four in Dual or Split mode — delivering up to 10 voices of polyphony. Its synth-action, velocity-sensitive keyboard keeps the feel light and responsive, making it well suited to both performance and programming. The front panel offers 29 dedicated controls for hands-on sound shaping, complemented by a D-Beam infrared controller, built-in effects including reverb, chorus, modulation delay and overdrive, and a 32 preset / 32 user patch memory. Connectivity is equally practical: USB doubles as both a MIDI and audio interface for direct DAW recording, and an external stereo audio input allows you to route other sources through the unit. Two-part multitimbral operation and deep VSTi editor/librarian integration round out a synthesizer designed for both studio and live use.
