This sampler or sequencer is in fair condition. Of our 8-point functional test, 2 item(s) passed and 6 were not applicable; no faults found. Note: Cosmetically the unit is in great condition with only a couple of minor surface marks. Unfortunately, we were only able to power the unit on, as the display appears to be locked on the 'SCSI Device Scanning' screen. We were unable to advance past this screen, which prevented us from fully testing the product. Please review all photos carefully, as they provide an accurate representation of the cosmetic condition of the product.

About this model

The Roland S-770 is a 3U rackmount 16-bit digital sampler, offering 24-voice monophonic or 12-voice stereo polyphony via Burr Brown PCM64 DACs and a resonant multimode digital filter covering low-pass, high-pass, and band-pass modes. It supports 16-part multitimbrality and can layer up to 8 samples per patch, making it a capable sound source for complex studio arrangements. I/O is extensive: stereo XLR/TRS combo inputs, stereo main outputs, six individual assignable analogue outputs, S/PDIF coaxial digital I/O, MIDI In/Out/Thru, and a 25-pin SCSI port. A built-in 40MB SCSI hard drive and 3.5" floppy drive handle internal storage, while onboard RAM starts at 2MB and is expandable to 16MB via 30-pin SIMMs. Editing can be performed via an external monitor using the composite or RGB video output, with support for a Roland mouse and RC-100 remote controller.
