About This Model

The Quad FM4 is a dedicated FM stereo tuner covering the 88–108 MHz broadcast band, with no AM section. It features a digital frequency display, seven station presets, and automatic AFC and muting for stable, low-effort listening. Bar graph indicators show both signal strength and centre tuning, while a stereo indicator confirms stereo reception. Under the hood it uses traditional analogue tuner circuitry — RF transformer, balanced mixer, ceramic IF filter, and a phase-locked stereo decoder — with a microprocessor handling only the display and preset functions. Signal-to-noise ratio is rated at 76dB mono and 70dB stereo, with distortion of just 0.15% at 1kHz. Output is via DIN line-level connection, upgradeable to phono/RCA. Mains voltage is switchable between 100–127V and 200–250V.
