About This Model

The Quad 34 is a solid-state control amplifier (preamplifier) designed for high-fidelity home audio use. It accepts a wide range of sources via Radio, Tape Play, and Aux inputs, and features both MM and MC phono inputs — the MM input offers 3mV sensitivity into 47kΩ, while the MC input handles 0.1mV into 100Ω. Distortion is rated at no worse than 0.05% across all inputs, with a residual noise floor of -105dB. A standout feature is the Tilt Control, which rotates the frequency response around an 800Hz axis to adjust tonal balance without affecting volume. Tone shaping is further served by a Bass Lift setting for low-level listening and small speakers, a Bass Step shelf cut (selectable at 100, 170, or 200Hz to tame room boom), and a three-position HF filter for 6dB/octave attenuation at 7kHz or 10kHz. Input switching is handled electronically with no relays, and the volume control tracks within 0.5dB channel-to-channel. Connections are primarily via DIN receptacles, with RCA sockets provided for the phono inputs.
