About This Model

The Pro-Ject Phono Box II is a compact phono preamplifier designed to bring turntable cartridges up to line level, supporting both Moving Magnet (MM) and Moving Coil (MC) cartridges via a rear-panel switch. It delivers 40dB of gain in MM mode and 60dB in MC mode, with input impedances of 47k ohms and 100 ohms respectively. The circuitry uses a dual-mono layout housed in a metal case that shields against vibration and electromagnetic interference, with gold-plated RCA sockets for input and output. RIAA equalisation accuracy stays within 0.5dB from 20Hz to 20kHz, and THD is quoted at 0.01% in MM mode. A notable addition over the original Phono Box is the built-in 16-bit Delta-Sigma ADC running at 48kHz, accessible via a rear USB socket, allowing direct digital recording from a turntable to a computer. An earthing screw terminal and an outboard 16V power supply complete the feature set.
