About This Model

The Marshall MG100FX is a 100-watt solid-state guitar combo from the MG4 Series, aimed at players wanting recognisable Marshall voicings and a broad set of built-in sounds in a single portable package. It offers four storable channels, digital effects including delay, chorus, phaser and flanger, dedicated digital reverb, power amp damping, an MP3/line input, an emulated line and headphone output, an external effects loop, and compatibility with the MG footcontroller. The four channels cover clean, crunch and two overdrive voicings, and the amp runs in either Preset or Manual mode depending on whether you want stored sounds recalled instantly or hands-on control from the panel. Three effects can run simultaneously - reverb, delay and one modulation effect - with tap tempo available for setting delay times by foot. Marshall's FDD (Frequency Dependent Damping) circuitry is central to the MG design, mimicking the way a valve power amp interacts with the speaker it drives to give a solid-state amp more of that feel and depth. The MG100FX was produced from 2009, and ran in the range through to 2018.
