About This Model
The Mackie EM91C is a large-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone designed for side-address recording. Its cardioid polar pattern focuses on sound from the front while rejecting off-axis noise, making it well suited for vocal tracking, acoustic instruments, and podcasting. The microphone covers a frequency response of 20 Hz to 18 kHz, delivers a sensitivity of -30 dBV/Pa, and handles peaks up to 134 dB SPL, while a self-noise rating of 16 dB(A) keeps the noise floor low for clean recordings. It requires 48V phantom power via its XLR output and ships with a vibration-reducing shockmount and XLR cable. The rugged metal grille construction gives it a durable build for regular studio use.
