About This Model
The JoeMeek VC6Q is a British channel strip processor in a 1U rack format, combining a transformerless mic/line/instrument preamp, an opto-compressor, and a three-band Meequaliser in a single unit. The preamp accepts balanced mic and line signals via rear-panel XLR and jack connectors, with an unbalanced high-impedance instrument jack on the front, and includes a rotary gain pot alongside 20dB pad, phantom power, and phase reverse switches. The optical compressor offers controls for compression level, slope (ratio), attack, and release, with gain reduction monitored via a six-LED meter reading up to 12dB. The three-band EQ features a sweep mid control ranging from 800Hz to 3.6kHz, with up to ±16dB of cut or boost per band. An insert point sits between the preamp and compressor via a TRS jack, and two balanced jack outputs are wired in parallel for convenient monitoring.
