About This Model

The Electro-Voice RE10 is a dynamic supercardioid microphone built around EV's Variable-D design, which keeps the frequency response virtually independent of where the sound source sits relative to the mic's axis — minimising proximity-effect colouration as a vocalist or instrument moves around. It rejects sound most effectively at 150° off-axis, giving it tighter isolation than a standard cardioid without the severe rear sensitivity of a hypercardioid. A built-in bass-tilt switch corrects low-end build-up when the mic is mounted on a boom at longer reach or tilted angles, making it practical for broadcast and stage work. Internally, the RE10 shares its fundamental architecture with the RE15 but is manufactured to slightly relaxed matching tolerances, delivering a closely related sonic character at a lower price point. The diaphragm is made from EV's Acoustalloy material, resistant to atmospheric extremes, and the transducer is nested within a nearly solid internal structure for shock resistance, all housed in a steel outer case that provides magnetic shielding.
