About This Model

The Cambridge Audio CXA81 is an 80W-per-channel (8Ω) Class AB integrated amplifier built around an ESS Sabre ES9016K2M DAC. It accepts an unusually wide range of sources: four RCA analogue inputs, a balanced XLR input, coaxial and dual optical digital inputs, a USB audio input capable of 24-bit/384kHz and DSD256 playback, and built-in Bluetooth 4.2 with aptX HD. Outputs include speaker A+B terminals, a preamp out, a subwoofer out, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The amplifier is Roon Tested and carries a frequency response of under 5Hz to 60kHz ±1dB — a specification that reflects its ambition as a serious full-range hi-fi component. It has won the What Hi-Fi? Product of the Year award four times.
