About This Model
The Beyerdynamic DT 100 is a closed-back, circumaural monitoring headphone that has been a fixture in recording studios and broadcast environments for decades. Its closed, robust design makes it well suited to monitoring and ENG/EFP applications, with soft circumaural ear cushions providing comfort over long sessions and effective isolation from external noise. Frequency response covers 30Hz to 20kHz with a maximum SPL of 94dB, delivering a balanced, accurate presentation rather than a hyped consumer voicing, which is what has kept it in service for tracking vocals and instruments where honest playback matters more than flattery. A single-sided detachable cable and a service-friendly construction allowing simple replacement of all parts mean these can be kept running almost indefinitely, and they remain made in Germany. The DT 100 was offered in two impedance variants: a 16 ohm version aimed at mobile and battery-powered use, and a 400 ohm version intended for studio monitoring.
