About This Model

The Ashdown Rootmaster RM 420 is a solid-state bass amplifier head delivering 420 watts of power in a compact, lightweight enclosure weighing just 4 kg. Its feature set is built around a 5-band rotary EQ - covering Bass (100Hz), Lo Mid (220Hz), Middle (660Hz), Hi Mid (1.6kHz), and Treble (7kHz) - each with ±15dB of adjustment, alongside a Deep boost and a one-touch Shape switch for instant classic Ashdown tones. On-board processing includes a one-knob compressor, a footswitchable tube-emulated overdrive, and a footswitchable sub-harmonic generator for added low-end depth. Connectivity covers high- and low-impedance instrument inputs, a line input for backing tracks, balanced DI output, tuner output, effects loop, and two speaker outputs accepting a minimum 4-ohm load. The RM 420 is a discontinued model, making used examples the primary route to ownership.
