About this model

The Alesis Micron is a compact virtual analog synthesizer from the mid-2000s, built around DSP analog modeling with three oscillators per voice - offering continuously variable wave shapes, FM, ring modulation, and oscillator sync. Its 37-key velocity-sensitive synth-action keyboard drives 8 voices of polyphony, each with two multimode filters drawn from 20 filter types and three envelope generators. An extensive modulation matrix with 114 sources and 78 destinations, two LFOs, and sample-and-hold give deep sound-design reach in a small footprint. The Micron also includes a built-in step sequencer, rhythm sequencer, and real-time phrase sequencer, plus a 40-band vocoder that runs independently of polyphony. Connectivity covers balanced stereo TRS audio ins and outs, a headphone output, expression and sustain pedal inputs, and MIDI In/Out/Thru. Patches are fully compatible with the larger Alesis Ion, widening its sound library considerably.
