This Hi-Fi speaker is in fair condition. Our 7-point functional test was completed in full: all checks passed except binding posts. Note: Both speakers are in fair condition, with quite a lot of surface marks and scratches throughout, as well as noticeable scuffing along the corners of both cabinets. The main issue found is that one of the binding posts is broken - the flap does not stay open on its own and must be pulled down manually to insert a cable. Despite this, the speaker functions correctly and sounds excellent. This fault does affect the overall aesthetic but does not impact audio performance. Please review all photos carefully, as they provide an accurate representation of the cosmetic condition of the product.

About this model

The Yamaha NS-670 is a 3-way bookshelf loudspeaker system built around a 25cm (10-inch) cone woofer, a 6cm dome midrange, and a 3cm soft-dome tweeter, covering a frequency range of 40Hz to 20kHz. Rated at 8Ω impedance with a maximum input of 50W, the NS-670 uses crossover points at 800Hz and 6kHz to hand off cleanly between drivers. The midrange driver benefits from a dedicated back cavity lined with sound-absorbing material to lower its resonance frequency, while continuously variable level controls for the midrange and tweeter allow fine-tuning of the tonal balance. A connection terminal for active operation adds flexibility for more advanced setups. The NS-670 was widely used as a professional studio monitor, giving it a pedigree that goes well beyond typical domestic hi-fi speakers of its era.
