About This Model
The Sony TC-K661S is a three-head stereo cassette deck built around a three-motor drive system - separate motors for the capstan, reels, and servo - delivering the mechanical stability that separates serious decks from budget transports. Its separate record and playback heads allow real-time tape monitoring while recording, and the deck supports Dolby B, C, and S noise reduction across all three tape formulations: Type I (normal), Type II (high), and Type IV (metal), with metal tape achieving a frequency response of 20-20,000 Hz. Features oriented toward ease of use include a motorized cassette compartment with green illumination, AMS (Auto Music Search), Title Search, a three-digit real-time counter, semi-automatic test tone calibration, and CD Synchro capability via the optional RM-J701 remote. Line-level input and output are handled via standard Cinch (RCA) connectors, and a headphone output accommodates 32Ω loads.
