About this model
The Sony HBD-N5200W is the main receiver unit from Sony's BDV-N5200W home cinema system, combining a 3D Blu-ray player, 5.1-channel amplifier and smart streaming platform in a single chassis. The system delivers up to 1000 watts of total audio output across 5.1 channels, with integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC, built-in streaming apps, high-resolution music playback, near-4K upscaling and two HDMI inputs. DVDs are upscaled towards 1080p and high definition content towards 4K, with native 4K pass-through supported for compatible televisions and projectors, while Sony's Sound Field modes including Cinema Studio, Digital Music Arena and Concert Hall add dimension to films and music, and DSEE HX and ClearAudio+ work on frequency response and overall clarity. Other features include an S-Master digital amplifier, BRAVIA Sync HDMI-CEC control, Audio Return Channel and All Front Sound for 5.1 or 4.1 configurations. The system it belongs to won What Hi-Fi?'s Best Cinema System award in 2014, praised for crisp, detailed surround performance, punchy dynamics, a strong feature set and straightforward set-up thanks to colour-coded speaker connections.
