About This Model

The Shure SM57 is a cardioid dynamic instrument microphone built around the Unidyne III moving-coil capsule, housed in a die-cast steel body with a polycarbonate grille. It covers a frequency response of 40 Hz to 15,000 Hz and handles sound pressure levels in excess of 140 dB, making it well suited to close-miking loud sources such as guitar cabinets, snare drums, and brass instruments. It connects via a balanced XLR output, requires no external power, and includes a pneumatic shock-mount system to reduce handling noise. The SM57 has been a fixture at U.S. presidential lecterns since 1965 and was inducted into the TECnology Hall of Fame in 2004.
