About This Model

The Novation Impulse 61 is a 61-key USB-MIDI controller built for studio production and live performance. Its semi-weighted, velocity-sensitive keys feature assignable aftertouch, giving expressive, piano-style playability. Hands-on control comes via eight backlit, velocity- and pressure-sensitive drum pads, nine faders, eight endless rotary encoders, pitch bend and modulation wheels, and dedicated transport controls — all displayed through a custom blue-backlit LCD. Connectivity includes USB MIDI, 5-pin MIDI In/Out, and inputs for both sustain and expression pedals. The Impulse 61 produces no sound itself, instead integrating tightly with DAWs and virtual instruments via Novation's Automap software, with native support for Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, and others.
