It has not passed our functional test and no functions are warranted as working. About This Model
The Electro-Voice SX80 is a compact two-way passive loudspeaker built for portable PA, stage monitoring and fixed installation work. It pairs an 8" woofer with a 1" compression driver, crossed over passively at 2.2kHz with a 12dB/octave slope and a self-resetting driver overload protection circuit, housed in a hard-wearing polymer cabinet. Power handling is 175 watts at a nominal 8 Ohms, with the high frequencies handled by a titanium-diaphragm DH2005 compression driver. The high-frequency section uses a molded-in 90° x 65° constant-directivity horn with VariPath throat geometry, aimed at keeping vocals intelligible and cutting through in reverberant, noisy rooms while spreading coverage evenly across the audience. The cabinet also incorporates Ring-Mode Decoupling to control acoustical and mechanical ring modes for reduced resonance and greater clarity. Electro-Voice designed the SX80 with servicing in mind - the woofer can be removed from the front of the cabinet, which makes driver replacement a realistic prospect for anyone taking this on as a repair.
