About This Model

The Emagic AMT8 is an 8-in/8-out MIDI interface built around Emagic's Active MIDI Transmission (AMT) technology, which uses look-ahead buffering to improve MIDI timing accuracy when paired with a Logic sequencer. Seven MIDI inputs and seven MIDI outputs are mounted on the rear panel, with a further input and output on the front panel for quick access. Connection to a host computer is handled via RS232 (PC), RS422 (Mac serial), or USB. The AMT8 can also run in standalone patch mode - activated by holding the Panic button at startup - storing routing configurations in onboard EEPROM without any battery. Up to eight units can be chained together for larger setups, and the front panel carries a full set of activity LEDs covering MIDI input, MIDI output, host interface selection, mode status, and power.
