About This Model
The Denon DRW-580 is a stereo double cassette deck featuring twin transport mechanisms, making it well suited to dubbing and tape-to-tape transfers. It supports Normal, Chrome, and Metal tape formulations via dedicated selection switches, and includes Dolby-B noise reduction to cut tape hiss by up to 10 dB at the highest frequencies. Playback and recording levels are monitored via digital peak-reading meters for both left and right channels, while a 4-digit electronic tape counter aids cueing. The belt-drive transport runs at the standard 1 7/8 ips and connects to wider systems via RCA inputs and outputs. Dating from the 1990s to early 2000s, the DRW-580 sits in Denon's mid-range cassette lineup from that era.
