About This Model

The Cyrus 40 PSU is a dedicated external power supply designed for Cyrus 40 series components, including the 40 AMP, 40 CD, and 40 ST. Rather than a single transformer, it houses five independent power supplies delivered via a multi-way umbilical cable, providing precisely regulated voltages — including a +5V DC standby supply, a fixed +24V DC operational rail, and digitally controlled variable outputs ranging from +10V up to +56V DC. An on-board microprocessor communicates directly with the connected component to dynamically configure the optimal voltage and current output for any given moment, while full digital control of all rails keeps noise to a minimum. By offloading the power demands of CD motors, master clocks, or amplifier rails away from the host unit's internal supply, the 40 PSU measurably reduces interference and is engineered to lift sonic performance across the 40 series range. It connects via a 15-pin umbilical and also carries RJ45 and Mini USB ports for firmware updates. The anodised aluminium chassis matches the 40 series aesthetic and, at 9.4 kg, reflects the substantial internal engineering within.
