About This Model
The Bowers & Wilkins Formation Audio is a wireless audio streamer and hub designed to bring legacy analog and digital components into the Formation ecosystem. It accepts signal via Toslink optical or RCA analog inputs, converts it using onboard ADC and DAC circuitry, and streams wirelessly to Formation speakers at up to 24-bit/96kHz resolution. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.1 with aptX HD, AAC, and SBC support, AirPlay 2, Wi-Fi, and a wired RJ45 Ethernet port. Streaming services including Spotify Connect, Tidal, Qobuz, TuneIn, and Roon Ready are accessible through the B&W Music app on iOS or Android. A patented Robust Mesh Network handles multi-room synchronisation independently of the home Wi-Fi network, ensuring tight timing between rooms.
