About This Model

The Boots Beirette B.L. is a fully mechanical 35mm viewfinder camera produced by VEB Kamerafabrik Freital in East Germany and sold through Boots outlets in the UK. It features a fixed E. Ludwig Meritar 45mm f/2.8 lens with manual focus down to 60 cm, and a Priomat shutter offering speeds of 1/30, 1/60, and 1/125 second plus Bulb mode. Because it requires no battery and has no built-in light meter, exposure is set entirely by the photographer - making it a straightforward, dependable tool for shooting on any 35mm film stock. A hot shoe allows use of an external flash unit. The same camera was sold in East Germany as the Beirette VSN and in West Germany as the Beroquick KB 135.
