About this model
The Behringer U-Phoria UMC1820 is an 18-in/20-out USB 2.0 audio interface built around eight MIDAS-designed microphone preamps with 24-bit/96 kHz conversion. All eight combo XLR/TRS inputs accept mic, instrument, or line signals, with phantom power switchable in groups of four across channels 1-4 and 5-8. Expansion is straightforward via two optical ADAT inputs and outputs - adding up to eight channels from an external preamp or converter - plus coaxial S/PDIF I/O and onboard MIDI in/out. Two independent headphone outputs with their own level controls and a Monitor A/B source selector make it practical for tracking sessions with a performer in another room, while zero-latency direct monitoring keeps things responsive during recording. The unit requires an external 12V DC power supply rather than drawing bus power from USB, and one is included with this listing.
