The Arcam AVR600 is the flagship AV receiver of the company’s FMJ range, built in Cambridge and intended as a demonstration of Arcam’s design skill and technical prowess rather than a specification-sheet exercise. Its discreet styling houses a seven-channel Class-G power amplifier rated at 120 watts per channel, with decoding for Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS High Resolution Audio and DTS-HD Master Audio. Connectivity is exhaustive, with well over 100 input, output and control connections ranging from simple analogue I/O to HDMI, making it as suited to custom installation work as to a domestic system, and it includes a moving-magnet phono input and iPod support via Arcam’s rLead or rDock. Setup can be handled automatically through Arcam’s proprietary auto-calibration and room correction, or manually, with speaker type, distance and level placed at the top level of the menu rather than buried
