The Yamaha TX81Z is a rack-mounted frequency modulation (FM) music synthesizer released by Yamaha in 1987. It is known for its multitimbral capabilities and is a keyboard-less version of the Yamaha DX11. The TX81Z features 8 voices of polyphony and 128 factory patches, with 32 user patches and 24 user performances available for editing.
-
It uses four operators per voice and offers eight different waveforms, which was an improvement over previous FM synthesizers that used only sine waves.
-
It includes pseudo-effects such as reverb, delay, and auto-panning between the two outputs.
-
It supports external control via MIDI.
-
It has a multitimbral system, allowing it to play multiple sounds simultaneously.
